NSW police charge woman over officer assault, break-in, fraud offences

A woman will appear in court today after allegedly assaulting an officer while in custody over break and enter and fraud offences.

In April 2019, officers attached to Northern Beaches Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation into an aggravated break and enter at Freshwater and linked frauds in Dee Why.

Following investigations, a 20-year-old woman was arrested at a unit on Pittwater Road, Dee Why, about 11.30am yesterday (Saturday 1 June 2019).

Shortly after, a search warrant was executed at the unit, during which police seized a safe, documents, clothing, and other items relevant to the investigation.

The Dee Why woman was taken to Manly Police Station, and while in the custody area, it’s alleged she kicked a female constable.

She was charged with 13 offences including assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, break and enter, dishonestly obtain property by deception (x3), and goods suspected stolen in/on premises (x5).

The woman was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 2 June 2019).

The officer suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
