NSW police charge woman over stabbing of man at Wagga Wagga

A woman has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man at Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 1.30am (Thursday 30 September 2021), emergency services were called to Karoom Drive, Glenfield Park, after reports a man had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with multiple wounds to his body.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 58-year-man at the scene, before he was conveyed to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a critical condition to undergo surgery.

Two crime scenes were established and examined by specialist forensic police.

Officers from Riverina Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident under Strike Force Kardina.

Following investigations, police arrested a 37-year-old woman after being stopped in a taxi on the Sturt Highway at Galore, about 10.10pm yesterday.

During the arrest, it will be alleged the woman bit the arm of a male constable.

She was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.

The Glenfield Park woman is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 1 October 2021).
