NSW police charge woman with intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm at Waterloo

A woman has been charged with intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm after an incident in Sydney’s south yesterday.

Police will allege that shortly after 4pm on Thursday 22 August 2019, a 23-year-old male was walking east on Raglan Street, Waterloo when he passed a group of people on the street.

The group yelled out to the man who stopped. He was then approached by a female from the group, who was wielding a stick.

She struck the man in the head causing a laceration above his right eye and then began to push him.

A member of the public then intervened and assisted the man by calling Triple Zero.

The woman was later located by patrolling police, arrested and transported to Mascot Police Station.

The man was conveyed to the Sydney Eye Hospital for treatment and will undergo surgery.

The woman was refused bail and is due to appear at the Central Local Court today (Friday 23 August 2019).
