NSW police investigate after man shot during public place shooting

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the hand at Macquarie Fields yesterday.

Just before 4.15pm (Sunday 26 September 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Snow Gum Street at Macquarie Fields, following reports of shots fired.

Police have been told three men arrived at the front of the home and became involved in an argument and physical altercation with two male occupants – aged 27 and 30 – before the younger man sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand.

The three men then fled the scene in a vehicle.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad, South West Metropolitan Region Operations Support Group, the Dog Unit and PolAir, conducted an extensive search of the area; however, the men were not located.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, or dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
