NSW police investigate aggravated break-in at Dareton

Investigators are appealing for information following an aggravated break and enter in the state’s far west at the weekend.

Police have been told about 9.45am on Sunday (12 April 2020), two men knocked on the front door of a home on Avoca Street, Dareton, demanding to speak with a man they believed to reside at the location.

The men were asked to leave, when they forced their way into the home and punched a 68-year-old man several times in the face.

The men fled the location empty handed and headed towards Mitchell Avenue on foot.

The 68-year old occupant suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalisation.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The first man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 150cm tall, of thin build, wearing dark clothing.

The second man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 150cm tall, of medium build, wearing dark clothing including a hooded jumper.

As inquiries continue, anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam vision from the area and its surrounds are urged to contact Dareton Police or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
