NSW police investigate armed robbery at Wollongong 7 February

An investigation is underway following the armed robbery of a service station in the state’s Illawarra yesterday.

Just after 4.30am (Sunday 6 February 2022), a man – with his face concealed – entered a service station on Rothery Road, Bellambi, and threatened a male employee with a knife.

The man stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing south on a bicycle on Pioneer Road.

A customer was in the store at the time; and he and the employee were not physically injured during the incident.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing to locate a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.

He has been described as being of Caucasian in appearance with a fair complexion, 180-185cm tall and with a thin build.

At the time, he was wearing a black hooded jumper, black balaclava, black pants and beige-coloured gloves.
