A man has been taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in his Five Dock home early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the home on West Street about 1.50am (Wednesday 28 August 2019), following reports of a fire.
On arrival officers located the home well alight. NSW Fire and Rescue officers assisted the elderly male resident out of the home where he was treated.
He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A crime scene has been established and a full investigation into the circumstances of the fire are now underway by officers from Burwood Police Area Command.
