NSW police investigate Illawarra-based drug syndicate

Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into an alleged drug syndicate operating out of the Illawarra.

Strike Force Mote was established by detectives from Lake Illawarra Police District in August 2020, to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Illawarra.

To date, strike force investigators have arrested four men in connection to Strike Force Mote. They remain before the courts.

As part of the investigation, detectives are currently looking at any potential links between the syndicate and a number of Illawarra-based businesses.

Lake Illawarra Police District Commander, Acting Superintendent Daniel Richardson, said police believe there are people in the community who may be able to assist with inquiries.

“We believe there are people out there who are withholding valuable information, and I would urge these people to come forward and speak to investigators now,” A/Supt Richardson said.

“The recent arrests are just the start of ongoing investigations into criminal activity in the Illawarra region.

“We will continue to target those who choose to engage in this kind of activity and rest assured they will be put before the courts,” A/Supt Richardson said.

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Mote investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
