NSW police investigate number of break and enters at Walgett

Police are appealing for public information following a number of break and enters in Walgett over the last couple of weeks.

About 4am on Sunday (2 January 2022), a service station on Fox Street, Walgett, was broken into with a number of items – including food and cigarettes – stolen.

The same store was broken into about 12.30am on Monday 3 (January 2022) and 5.15am on Saturday (8 January 2022), with a number of items – including food and cigarettes – stolen each time.

Officers attached to Central North Police District commenced an investigation into the incidents.

As part of their inquiries, police are also investigating a break-in at a sporting club on Castlereagh Highway, Walgett, about 2.30am on Monday (10 January 2022). Two people forced entry to the club, and smashed a vending machine, stealing a number of items before fleeing.

A crime scene was established at the time and forensically examined.

As investigations continue, police would like to speak with two people who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first person is shown wearing a red hooded jumper, black jacket and pants, black gloves and carrying a black backpack.

The second person is shown wearing a grey hooded jumper, black jacket, green camouflage pants, and carrying a black backpack.

Investigators urge any witnesses, any motorists who may have dash-cam vision or anyone with information to contact Walgett Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
