NSW police investigate street racing, appeal for information

Police are investigating an alleged incident of street racing and are appealing for information to locate a vehicle that was seen at the time of the incident.

About 10.15pm on Friday (27 September 2019), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were travelling south along Southern Cross Drive when they saw three vehicles approach the Airport Tunnel.

Officers continued to observe the three vehicles as they allegedly slowed down at the entrance of the tunnel, holding back traffic, before accelerating at speed.

Officers managed to stop two vehicles, a white Mercedes AMG and a black Audi.

The drivers of both vehicles were issued court attendance notices for street racing, speeding and drive manner dangerous.

Their licences were suspended on the spot and the number plates of both vehicles were seized.

Police wish to speak to the driver of a white Volkswagen hatchback who may assist with inquiries.

Motorists who were in the area at the time and may have information or dash cam vision of the incident to come forward are urged to contact police.
