NSW police investigating after carjacking at Griffith

An investigation is underway after a car was stolen at knifepoint in the state’s south west overnight.

Shortly after 4pm (Monday 14 September 2020), a woman parked her silver Volkswagen Polo in a carpark between Yambil Street and Canal Street, Griffith.

As the woman got out, she was approached by a man, armed with a knife. He threatened her, demanding she put her handbag in the car, turn the engine on and walk away.

The woman complied and the man drove away in her Volkswagen. She was not physically injured as a result of the incident.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

As inquiries continue, detectives would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a medium build, aged in his 50s, approximately 170-180cm tall, with short grey hair and a short grey beard. He was wearing a grey sports polo shirt, black coloured pants, a dark hooded jumper and black frameless sunglasses at the time.
