NSW police investigating after man stabbed at Banksia

A man has received stab wounds after an altercation with a group of at least 10 men in a street in the St George area overnight.

About 8.00pm (Thursday 26 November 2020), emergency services were called to the Gardiner Park playground on Wolli Creek Road at Banksia, following reports a 25-year-old man had been stabbed after he was attacked by a group of men.

The man received three stab wounds to the lower back, before he collapsed to the ground. He was given first aid by passers-by until the arrival of ambulance paramedics.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for his injuries. His condition is described as serious but stable.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into what prompted the attack is being conducted by detectives from St George Police Area Command.

As investigations continue, police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack or has information that might assist inquiries, including dash-cam footage, to contact St George Police or Crime Stoppers.
