NSW police investigating after shots fired into car

Police are investigating after a car – with five people inside – was shot at in Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Just after 9pm yesterday (Sunday 28 November 2021), police responded to reports of a public place shooting in the vicinity of Townsend Street, Condell Park.

On arrival, officers from Bankstown Police Area Command located a white Toyota Yaris, which had been involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Townsend Street and Manahan Street.

Officers found the Yaris to have a number of bullet holes.

Police were told the Yaris – with five occupants aged 37, 17, 17, 16 and 12 – had allegedly been shot at by a man while driving in the area a short time before the crash.

No one was injured as a result of the shooting or the crash.

A crime scene was established and police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

After initial inquiries, police believe the shooting to be a targeted attack.
