NSW police lay charges after drugs and weapons seized

A man has been charged after drugs and weapons were seized during a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) search at a home in the state’s west.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District served the FPO at a home on Grattan Street at Hillston, about 100km north-west of Griffith, yesterday (Thursday 28 February 2019).

During a search of the property, police located prohibited drugs, items allegedly used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs, three replica firearms, knuckle dusters and a sling shot. These items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

Officers arrested a 40-year-old man at the home and he was taken to Griffith Police Station.

He was charged with four counts of possess prohibited drug, two counts of supply a prohibited drug, possess drug manufacturing apparatus, possess more than 3 unregistered firearms, three counts of not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without authority, and two counts of possess prohibited weapon.

The man appeared in Griffith Local Court today (Friday 1 March 2019) and was formally refused bail to reappear on Wednesday 27 March 2019.
