NSW police lay charges after head-on crash near Berry

A man has been charged following a head-on collision on the state’s South Coast earlier this year.

About 11.50am on Thursday 20 August 2020, emergency services were called to the Princes Highway at Jaspers Brush, after an eastbound Mitsubishi Pantech truck and a Toyota Hilux utility, travelling west, collided in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old man, was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital with leg injuries.

The driver of the utility, a 55-year-old man, was airlifted to St George Hospital with severe leg and internal injuries.

Both drivers have since been released from hospital and are recovering.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following inquiries, the 25-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and not keep left of centre line. His licence has been suspended.

The Sydney man was granted bail to appear in Nowra Local Court today (Monday 7 December 2020).
