NSW police lay charges, drugs and cash seized after break-in at Tamworth

Police have charged two people following investigations into an alleged break-in and theft in the Tamworth region.

Officers from Oxley Police District commenced inquiries after a home was allegedly broken into on Hillvue Road, West Tamworth, and a wallet stolen on Sunday 25 September 2022.

Police will allege in court that a credit card was used for several transactions between Tuesday 4 October 2022 and Friday 14 October 2022.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Cossa Street, West Tamworth, where they seized cash, mobile phones, prohibited drugs, clothing and bags to undergo forensic examination.

A 39-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were arrested at the property and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The man was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, and two counts of possess prohibited

drug. He was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court tomorrow (Friday 11 November 2022).

The woman was charged with dishonestly obtain property by deception and possess prohibited drug.

She was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Tamworth Local Court on 21 November 2022.

Investigations are continuing.
