NSW police lay charges over Neutral Bay stabbing

Police have charged a man and a continuing to search for another after they allegedly seriously assaulted and stabbed a third man on Sydney’s Lower North Shore at the weekend.

About 4pm on Sunday (28 February 2021), a 25-year-old man and a 39-year-old man were walking along Park Avenue at Neutral Bay when they were allegedly confronted by two unknown men.

One of the men allegedly assaulted the 25-year-old man by punching him several times to the face and head, before stabbing him in the head, neck, back and chest.

The two unknown men ran from the scene before fleeing in a white Mazda.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man, before taking him to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He remains in a stable condition.

The 39-year-old man was uninjured.

Officers from North Shore Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Following inquiries by North Shore detectives, a 24-year-old man was arrested on Darley Street, Mona Vale, about 11.30am yesterday (Monday 1 March 2021), before a search warrant was executed at a nearby home.

During the search, detectives seized a number of items relevant to the investigation, including a white Mazda.

The 24-year-old Mona Vale man was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has been refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today (Tuesday 2 March 2021).

Investigations are continuing to identify and locate the second man.
