NSW police officer injured while on-duty at Cobar

A police officer has suffered facial injuries while on-duty in Cobar this morning.

About 11.50pm (Saturday 20 July 2019), police were called to a licensed venue in Cobar after calls that a patron was refusing to leave the premises.

Shortly after midnight, two officers attached to Central North Police District arrived at the venue.

The pair approached a female patron who allegedly struck a Constable with a glass causing the officer to fall to the ground.

The Constable’s partner intervened and after a short struggle the officers were able to restrain the woman and place her in custody.

The woman was arrested and charged with behave in offensive manner in/near public place; excluded person fail to leave premises when required; wound person with intent to resist/prevent arrest and resist or hinder police officer in execution of duty.

She was ordered into the care of Mental Health Services in Dubbo, where she will undergo a subsequent mental health assessment.

The Constable was taken to Cobar Hospital where she was treated for cuts to her forehead.

She has since been transported to Royal North Shore Hospital for further assessment.
