Police are appealing for public assistance to identify and locate a man following the theft of multiple vehicles and property in the state’s north-west yesterday.
Just after 4am yesterday (Tuesday 23 November 2021), a Mitsubishi Triton utility – reportedly stolen from Victoria in March 2021 – was sighted at a Bourke service station.
The Mitsubishi was driven to a rural property on the Mitchell Highway, approx. 27km north of Enngonia, where a man reportedly broke into a Toyota Hilux parked at the property, stealing cash.
After driving off, the Mitsubishi was reportedly driven to Wanaaring where it was abandoned on Hungerford Road after sustaining a flat tyre.
A Toyota Landcruiser was later stolen from outside a shop in Wanaaring before being driven to another Wanaaring property, where a man reportedly broke into a shed and stole a silver Holden Colorado.
The holden was driven to a property on Wampra Road, Fords Bridge, where the driver was seen to abandon the vehicle and enter a blue Toyota Landcruiser before driving off.
Police found the Toyota abandoned in the driveway of a property on Dungarden Road, Bulla, about 100km west of Wanaaring, about 5pm. An unregistered .22 calibre rifle and ammunition in the Toyota at the time it was stolen, was not recovered.
The man was reportedly last seen driving off in a grey Toyota Landcruiser, which he stole from the Bulla property.
Officers attached to Central North Police District have commenced an investigation into the thefts and would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s, with tattoos on his arms and legs. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
The man was last seen driving a stolen grey Toyota Landcruiser, with QLD registration 688-RZP. It is unknown if he is still in possession of the stolen rifle.
If sighted, the public is urged not to approach the man or the vehicle and to contact Triple 000.
