NSW police update: Driver dies in hospital after Merrylands West collision

A 22-year-old woman who was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash at Merrylands West last week has died in hospital.

The crash occurred about 10.30pm on Monday 7 September 2020, when a Subaru wagon and a Nissan Skyline collided at the intersection of the Cumberland Highway and Bruce Street, Merrylands West.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 22-year-old driver of the Subaru before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. She was unable to recover from her injuries and yesterday (Monday 14 September 2020), she died in hospital.

The 32-year-old man who was driving the Nissan Skyline, and his 32-year-old male passenger both remain in Westmead Hospital with head and internal injuries.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As part of inquiries, police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident, or might have video or dashcam footage, to contact Crime Stoppers. Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was travelling along the Cumberland Highway around the time of the collision.
