NSW police update: Man dies, another in custody after altercation at Cabramatta West

A man who was arrested following the death of another man at Cabramatta West has been taken to hospital as inquiries into the incident continue.

About 8.45pm (Thursday 14 March 2019), emergency services were called to Sydney Luker Road, Cabramatta West, after reports of a motor vehicle collision and two men fighting.

Officers attended and located a man with a wound to his head. He died at the scene.

Whilst not yet formally identified, he is believed to be a 59-year-old man.

Another man, aged 75, was taken into custody at the location and an axe was seized. He was taken to Fairfield Police Station before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for an unrelated medical condition.

After being released from hospital, he is expected to be returned to Fairfield Police Station.

A crime scene continues to be examined by specialist officers and detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command have established Strike Force Pierson to investigate the incident.
