NSW Volunteer – Gerard De Vries receives Order of Australia

NSW SES long serving Volunteer Gerard (Gerry) De Vries has received the Order of Australia Medal.

The Order of Australia is the principal means of recognising outstanding members of the community at a national level.

Order of Australia recipient, Gerry has been a member of the NSW SES Wauchope Unit since January 2003 and currently holds the position of Deputy Unit Commander.

Gerry has brought a depth of experience and knowledge to the NSW SES. His experience over 40 years across a range of emergency service organisations in operational response, leadership and development of policy and procedure to guide and support others in the delivery of emergency services is of the highest order.

In his service with NSW SES over the last 15 years, Gerry has occupied leadership positions, managed operational responses, commanded strike force deployments out of area, trained personnel in a variety of disciplines and been a productive member of working groups building capability across NSW SES.

The NSW SES applaud Gerry for his dedication to the service and congratulate him on being awarded the Order of Australia.
