NT Covid update 27 July

The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of a man in his 70s with COVID-19.

The man was from Katherine, had underlying health conditions and passed away at home.

The total number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic is 55.

There were 491 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 4pm on 26 July 2022.

There are currently 76 patients in hospital. There are 11 patients requiring oxygen and one patient is in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is 3,441.

Face masks

It is highly recommended all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied. Children under the age of 12 do not need to wear a mask.

For clarification, there is no requirement to wear a face mask after exiting isolation.

However face masks must be worn in the following high risk settings:

Hospitals and health care facilitiesAged care facilitiesDisability residential facilitiesCorrectional facilitiesFamily violence, sobering up and homeless shelters.

Face masks must also be worn when on board an aircraft that is:

Operating a domestic service in the NTOperating an inbound international service in the NT.
