NT Covid Update: Waikato in NZ declared hotspot

The Chief Health Officer will declare the Waikato Local Government Area in New Zealand a hotspot for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory, from 8pm on 2 November 2021.

A hotspot remains in place for the Auckland region.

Strict border controls are in place for all people travelling to the NT from a declared hotspot or public exposure site. The border controls prohibit entry into the NT except for returning residents, or those who have obtained prior approval to enter.

Anyone who has been in the Waikato Local Government Area in the past 14 days, with an approved exemption to travel to the NT, and arrives after 8pm today, will be required to undertake mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities.

If you have symptoms, it is important you get tested for COVID-19. Book your COVID-19 test online at https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/
