Off limits – skate parks and bowls to be filled

Our Bayside skate parks and skate bowls will be filled with material such as sand, tan bark etc from today to help protect our community from the spread of COVID-19 following requests from Victoria Police.

The skate parks are closed in line with Victoria Government Stage 3 restrictions. Unfortunately skateboarders are continuing to visit and congregate in contravention of these restrictions and Victoria Police have requested Council’s immediate action.

The skate parks are at Donald MacDonald Reserve in Beaumaris, Peterson Reserve in Highett Road, Elsternwick Park and Royal Avenue Reserve in Sandringham.

While we acknowledge the importance of physical exercise during the COVID-19 lock down, our first priority is the health and safety of our community.

The material will be removed once restrictions ease, in accordance with Victorian Government guidelines.

We are working to develop alternative skate programs that can be done at home. Please follow our Bayside Youth Services Facebook and Instagram pages and stay tuned for more details on skater alternatives and other recreational activities coming soon.

Stay safe from COVID-19.
