Off-peak Lanyon Drive closure for Monaro Highway Upgrade

A section of Lanyon Drive at the intersection of the Monaro Highway will have an off-peak closure to allow for construction on the Monaro Highway upgrade.

From 7pm Friday 10 July to 5am Monday 13 July (weather permitting), Lanyon Drive will be temporarily closed between the northbound and southbound carriageways of the Monaro Highway.

This closure will allow for stormwater culverts to be installed across Lanyon Drive. These culverts are concrete structures used to channel water from one side of Lanyon Drive to the other side, under the road.

During the closure, there will be detours through the Hume industrial area along Sheppard Street. Monaro Highway remains open in both directions for all road users. If you need to access Monaro Highway northbound, follow the detour through Sheppard Street.

An alternative route for road users travelling from Jerrabomberra to north Canberra is to turn right on to Lanyon Drive at Tompsitt Drive and then use Canberra Avenue.

If works are unable to be completed during this time or the closure cannot proceed due to adverse weather a contingency is planned for the following weekend from 7pm Friday 17 July to 5am Monday 20 July.

The Monaro Highway is being upgraded to deliver improved safety, freight efficiency and faster and smoother travel for Tuggeranong, the Woden Valley and southern New South Wales.
