Officer charged – Central Metropolitan Region 26 August, NSW

A serving police officer has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault.

An investigation was commenced after a 29-year-old constable allegedly assaulted a 40-year-old man while he was being arrested in Zetland on 30 January 2020 on an outstanding warrant.

Following inquiries, the officer – who is attached to a command within the Central Metropolitan Region – was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice today (Wednesday 26 August 2020), for the offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault.

He is due to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 7 October 2020.
