Officer charged – North West Metropolitan Region 29 April, NSW

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into assaults at a North West Sydney police station.

An internal investigation commenced following the assault of two men while in custody at a police station on Friday 11 March 2022.

Following inquiries, a 46-year-old male senior constable – attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region – was issued a court attendance notice yesterday (Thursday 28 April 2022), for two counts of common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and intentionally choke person with recklessness.

The man will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 15 June 2022.

He remains suspended with pay and his employment status is under review.
