Officer charged – South West Metropolitan Region 24 June, NSW

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged misconduct.

In February this year, investigators from the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation into the alleged misconduct of an officer relating to an assault in Roselands.

As part of investigations, search warrants were executed at three homes across Sydney’s south-west from 6am yesterday (Wednesday 23 June 2021).

During the searches, a number of items relevant to the investigation were seized.

A 28-year-old man, who is a constable attached to South West Metropolitan Region, was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

He was charged with do act intending to pervert the course of justice, publish false misleading material to obtain advantage, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and deal with identity info to commit indictable offence.

The officer was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 4 August 2021.

He was suspended in February and his duty status is currently under review.

Investigations are continuing.
