Officer charged – South West Metropolitan Region 27 November, NSW

A police officer has been charged following investigations into alleged assaults in Sydney’s CBD earlier this year.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after a man and woman – known to the man – were allegedly assaulted at a licensed premise on Wednesday 22 June 2022.

Following inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday 28 June 2022, after attending Day Street Police Station.

The man – a constable attached to a command within the South-West Metropolitan Region ­– was charged with three counts of common assault (DV); and common assault.

Following further inquiries, the man was charged on Wednesday (23 November 2022) with an additional three counts of common assault (DV) in relation to incidents that are alleged to have occurred in February and May this year.

The man has appeared before Downing Centre Local Court and is next due to appear on Thursday 4 May 2023.

The officer’s employment status is under review.
