Officer charged – South West Sydney

A police officer has been charged over the alleged illegal access of the NSW Police computer system.

In February this year (2023), officers attached to the Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Rossiville to investigate allegations that a constable – attached to a command in the South West Metropolitan Region – had unlawfully accessed data on the police computer system.

Following inquiries, the 25-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice today (Wednesday 5 July 2023), charged with misconduct in public office, five counts of access/modify restricted data held on a computer, and public official unlawfully disclose information to others.

He will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 28 August 2023.

The officer is currently suspended with pay.
