Officer charged – Specialist Command 18 December

A police officer has been charged over the alleged illegal access of the NSW Police computer system.

Strike Force Killinger was established in May 2023 by the Professional Standards Command, following reports a senior constable – attached to a command in the South West Metropolitan Region – had accessed restricted data while undertaking his duties.

Following inquiries, the 33-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice today (Monday 18 December 2023), for eight counts of access/modify restricted data held in computer and one count of holder of public office misconduct him or herself.

The officer – who has been suspended with pay since October 2023 – is due to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Monday 1 February 2024

His employment status is currently under review.
