A serving police officer has been charged over the alleged possession and distribution of child abuse material.
The 55-year-old male sergeant, who is attached to the Western Region, was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice yesterday (Wednesday 23 January 2019), for disseminate child abuse material and possess child abuse material.
The offences allegedly occurred on Monday 17 December 2018.
He is due to appear at Narrabri Local Court on Tuesday 26 March 2019.
The sergeant has been suspended with pay.
