Officer injured after rock thrown at police vehicle north of Moree, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after an officer was injured in the state’s Northern Tablelands yesterday.

About 10.30pm (Tuesday 9 June 2020), officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling the Boggabilla, about 115km north east of Moree, when a rock was thrown at the vehicle.

Police will allege the rock hit the driver’s side window, causing it to shatter and injure a female constable inside the vehicle.

She sustained minor injuries to her neck and arm and was taken to hospital for further treatment. She has since been released.

Moree Police Officer in Charge, Inspector Martin Burke, said the incident is concerning.

“Violence towards police will not be tolerated in any circumstance, especially while we are trying to protect our community during COVID-19,” Insp Burke said.
