Officer injured during arrest of man over threats against police, NSW

A police officer has been injured during the arrest of a man after he allegedly threatened officers in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 11pm (Thursday 13 February 2020), officers from Auburn Police Area Command were conducting proactive patrols through Lidcombe’s CBD, when they spotted a man and woman arguing.

As officers approached and parked in their police vehicle, the 38-year-old man allegedly threatened them.

As officers attempted to arrest the man, he allegedly resisted and attempted to grab both officer’s appointments.

It will further be alleged that as he resisted, it caused a male senior constable to fall onto the pavement and dislocate his shoulder.

The senior constable was taken to Auburn Hospital for treatment.

The 38-year-old man was taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of assault police officer in the execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, and behave in offensive manner in/near public place.

The Regents Park man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 14 February 2020).
