Officer injured in Campsie

A man will appear in court after a police officer was injured in Sydney’s south west overnight.

About 7.20pm yesterday (Thursday 27 August 2020), officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command were patrolling at Campsie Railway Station when they noticed a man allegedly jump a ticket barrier.

After stopping the 19-year-old-man, police allege he became aggressive and tried to leave.

While attempting to restrain the man, one of the officers – a male constable – suffered an injury to his arm.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the officer at the scene before taking him to Bankstown Hospital with a suspected broken wrist.

The man was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with resist police officer in the execution of duty and enter a restricted area without processing a ticket.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 15 September 2020.
