Omeo, Swifts Creek and Ensay waste collection – East Gippsland

Due to the bushfires, subsequent power outage (potential for spoiled food) and Great Alpine Road closure, we are putting a range of measures in place to ensure a kerbside collection is maintained this week, plus increased access to waste transfer stations.

Accessing the High Country with the waste trucks is possible via a change in route approved through transport permits issued by the Incident Control Centre.

Kerbside collection – Thursday:

Our contractor Tambo Waste will collect kerbside household domestic waste (red bins) at Ensay, Swifts Creek and Omeo on Thursday 26 December as scheduled (day later than normal due to Christmas Day).

Please note there will be no green waste pick up, which was also scheduled for Thursday.

Tambo Waste will bring the domestic waste back to Bairnsdale to take some pressure off the available bin space at the Omeo Transfer Station.

Tambo Waste will be servicing the rural kerbside enclosures at Tambo Crossing and Ensay with its small rear loader truck today (Tuesday).

Transfer station hours extended:

The Omeo and Swifts Creek transfer stations will be open on Thursday 26 December between 8am and 12pm at no charge. This is in addition to normal operating hours.

The Omeo transfer station will also open as normal from Friday to Sunday, 12-4pm.

The Swifts Creek transfer station will also open as normal on Friday, 12-4pm.
