Your local library has a new name, a new look and more than three million items available to borrow.

Corangamite Moyne Library Services launches on July 1 and all users will have access to the Libraries Victoria catalogue of books, audio books, DVDs, magazines and other resources.

Corangamite Moyne Library Services Coordinator Kat Wilson said the new library model was a win-win for customers.

“Our branches will all be in the same places, with the same hours and the same faces you know and love behind the desk, but you have a huge range of items to borrow,” Ms Wilson said.

“The One Library card also means you can borrow more items at a time for longer, and its fine free.”

“The exciting changes customers will see is a new logo, a new library card and millions more items available to borrow.”

Ms Wilson said Libraries Victoria would be launching a new app in the coming weeks meaning people would be able to access the library catalogue from their smartphones.

Corangamite and Moyne Library Services replaces the Corangamite Regional Library Corporation and manages library services for both the Corangamite and Moyne Shire Council’s.

The service’s new logo features eight coloured bars – each representing a branch the service manages and chosen to reflect characteristics of the area that branch services.

Derrinallum is represented by golden yellow to reflect the canola crops which dominate the western plains during spring, while Port Fairy is purple, a colour synonymous with local sporting teams – groups which bring the community together, just like the library.

The coloured bars are linked by an outline of Mount Emu Creek – a geographic feature of both the Corangamite and Moyne Shire Councils.

Join your local library and let thousands of stories – true and imagined – take you on an amazing voyage, just like the waters of our Mt Emu Creek that flows between Corangamite and Moyne Shires.
