There is less than one month left to nominate outstanding CFA people for an Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) as part of the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

One month left to nominate for the 2021 AFSM

The AFSM is awarded for distinguished service to fire services across Australia. Only one award is presented to an individual, and recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters AFSM.

Medals are awarded biannually in the Australia Day and the Queen’s Birthday Honours lists.

Acting Chief Officer Garry Cook said it’s important for all of us to recognise the enormous contributions CFA people make.

“The AFSM awards give anyone the opportunity to put forward a nomination for someone they know who deserves to be honoured,” he said.

“I’d encourage everyone to take the chance to nominate someone whose service has gone above and beyond.”

Recent CFA recipients include Ruth Ryan, Gwynne Brennan, Ian Symons, Russell Pardew, Robin Parsons, Nicole Harvey and Peter Shaw.

Nominations close 1 November 2020. All nominations are strictly confidential
