One Nation wants to take the chainsaws back into Victoria’s native forests

Australian Greens

The Victorian Greens have slammed One Nation’s announcement that it would restart native forest logging in Victoria.

Victorian Greens Leader Ellen Sandell said Victoria should instead be closing loopholes in anti-logging laws, and protecting native forests for good in new national parks and reserves, with Traditional Owner rights and management front-and-centre.

As stated by Victorian Greens Leader Ellen Sandell MP:

“One Nation wants to take the chainsaws back into Victoria’s precious native forests. The Greens will fight them every step of the way.

“The Liberals, Nationals and One Nation all want to bring back native forests logging- destroying precious forests and endangered wildlife while expecting taxpayers to foot the bill propping up the industry with subsidies. It’s economically and environmentally destructive.

“The community and the Greens fought for decades to get Labor to finally end native forest logging in Victoria. One Nation wants to undo that progress and drag us backwards.

“Our native forests are precious, irreplaceable and home to threatened wildlife. One Nation wants to start destroying them again – the Greens will fight them every step of the way.”
