Online maps to guide off-road vehicles in WA

  • Innovative online maps identify areas around the State where off-road vehicles can be driven
  • Updated guides also published for riders, retailers and local government
  • Trail bike, quad bike, and all-terrain vehicle users can now access a series of online maps to see areas where off-road vehicles can be driven around Western Australia.

Designed to give off-road vehicle users the ability to easily and conveniently check where vehicles can be driven legally, the maps identify all permitted off-road vehicle areas around the State.

The maps identify locations in a number of metropolitan and regional areas, with a satellite view also available to identify local features such as tracks and dunes.

As well as the maps, three guides have been updated and published for off-road vehicle riders, retailers and local governments with information on licensing, registration and details of where to ride.

The maps and guides are available at https://www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au/ORVtools

The online maps and the guides were produced by the State Government in consultation with the WA Local Government Association and Recreational Trail Riders Association.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

“These maps give off-road vehicle users a clear, easy way to understand where off-road vehicles can be driven around the State.

“Off-roading is a recreational activity enjoyed by many people, and families in particular. The most important thing is that the activity is enjoyed safely and in an appropriate area.

“The majority of off-road users do the right thing, but we do see instances of riders in prohibited areas or on public roads.

“These maps and guides will help all riders understand their responsibilities, as well as assist local governments to better manage access and make sure the activity is undertaken legally and in the right spots in their local areas.”
