Online survey to help plan Campbelltown’s future housing

Existing and future residents and housing providers can now have their say on the types and location of housing they believe is needed in the future Campbelltown.

Council is preparing the Campbelltown Local Housing Strategy to plan the various types and location of housing that is and will be needed to house the city’s current and future residents.

Interested members of the community are encouraged to fill out an online survey to help Council understand what people’s future aspirations for housing types are in the city and assist the preparation of the Local Housing Strategy.

The NSW Government is currently planning for about 27,000 new dwellings by 2036 across the Campbelltown LGA, which will generally be built in nominated growth precincts and existing urban areas along the rail corridor.

The Local Housing Strategy will outline how housing growth across the LGA is managed, identifying the right locations for additional housing supply and informing future updates to Council’s Local Environment Plans.

“We’re planning for Campbelltown’s future and it’s important that we understand the wants and needs of our community when it comes to the location and types of housing that will be built here,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“I particularly encourage the young people of our community to participate in this survey so that we are best able to plan for the future Campbelltown with the desires and needs of the next generation of home owners in mind,” Cr Brticevic said.

“Your feedback and the plans from the Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre Master Plan and Local Strategic Planning Statement will help us,” he said.

The survey, which closes on 22 May asks residents what type of housing they currently reside in and what they hope to live in in the future as well as asking where in the LGA residents would like to see new housing.

Further community consultation will be undertaken when the draft Campbelltown Local Housing Strategy is put on public exhibition.
