Following a joint operation on the public transport network last week, Southern District Public Transport Police conducted a second operation on bus routes throughout Adelaide’s southern suburbs.
On Wednesday 26 August, members of the Southern District Public Transport Team, in partnership with Adelaide Metro Prescribed Officers, targeted antisocial behaviour to improve safety and provide reassurance to passengers and drivers through a highly visible presence on key public transport services.
During the operation, police conducted 20 metal detector searches, issued 23 expiation notices for antisocial behaviour offences and spoke with nine passengers regarding fare evasion.
Two men were arrested in relation to outstanding matters.
South Australia Police will continue to work alongside Adelaide Metro and partner agencies in operations such as this to maintain a safe and secure public transport network, ensuring commuters and frontline staff can travel and work with confidence.
Officers positively engaged with commuters who were thankful for their highly visible presence during their commute.
