The North East Community Assistance Project (NECAP) was the first organisation to receive a COVID-19 Response Grant. Co-located at the site of the Children’s Centre at Hillcrest, this independent community service provides community support programs, and operates as an opshop. Typically, proceeds from op-shop sales are used to supply food parcels for local families in need. The op-shop was required to shut during COVID-19, and this left the NECAP Team with less resources to distribute, at a time of increased demand.
