Opportunity to take over New Year’s Eve community celebration

Event organisers have an opportunity to take on one of our region’s longest-running, largest and most popular annual events – Mildura’s New Year’s Eve community celebration.

Applications are now open to run the event for the coming three years, providing a chance for suitably qualified organisers to put their stamp on the event, with up to $51,000 in Council support available.

Mildura Mayor Liam Wood said the opportunity followed last year’s successful New Year’s Eve community celebration, which was the first time it had been offered to private event organisers.

“Our region’s events and entertainment sector has taken a major hit over the past few years due to COVID, and while it’s great to see our region slowly recovering, opportunities like this offer a welcome stimulus for this important sector,” Cr Wood said.

“This is a chance to take over what is already a successful formula, with a proven record for attracting between 4,000 and 5,000 people each year.

“And by extending the contract period to three years this time, it really allows a chance to develop and evolve the event.”

Expressions of interest can be made by visiting https://mrcc.smartygrants.com.au/2022NYE and are open until 4pm on Sunday 7 August.
