Optus network outage update

The Tasmanian Government is monitoring the major nationwide outage to Optus mobile, internet and phone networks.

Optus advises it is working to restore services as a matter of urgency.

Minister for Science and Technology, Madeleine Ogilvie, confirmed that Tasmanian Government services have not been adversely impacted by the outage.

“The Tasmanian Government is seeking regular updates from Optus and the Australian Government,” Minister Ogilvie said.

“Businesses impacted who require further information can contact the Business Tasmania hotline on 1800 440 026.”

Optus has confirmed that triple zero (000) calls will not work from Optus landline (fixed line telephones) and that mobile calls to 000 will work if another carrier is available.

“We encourage affected Optus customers who need to contact emergency services to use a mobile line to call triple zero (000),” Minister Ogilvie said
