Outstanding young people appointed ambassadors for Youth Week

NT Government

Outstanding young members of our community have been appointed to promote the forthcoming Youth Week as Youth Week Ambassadors.

Youth Week Ambassadors play a crucial role in the promotion of Youth Week activities and fostering connections with young Territorians across the length and breadth of the Territory to be engaged and involved.

They model positive behaviours and consult, engage and collaborate to have more people actively participate in Youth Week activities.

Youth Week is scheduled for 6 to 17 April 2024 to cultivate a sense of identity and belonging along with strong cultural and community connections among young Territorians.

The culturally, socially and demographically diverse Youth Week Ambassadors will set about working to assist young people to express their ideas, learn from each other and promote confidence to act on issues they are passionate about.

Congratulations to the seven Youth Week Ambassadors selected from a record number of nominations made for consideration:

Yanbatji Mununggurr from East Arnhem;Tyson Ryan from Maningrida;Phuong Xuan Le from Alice Springs;Peter Susanto from Darwin;Amber-Jade Shepherd from Darwin;Ashleigh Dawe from Darwin; andJessica Porter from Palmerston.

In the coming weeks, assessment of grant applications for activities during Youth Week will be completed and preparations for hundreds of activities and events for April will get underway.
