Pair arrested after abandoning stolen SUV, South Australia

Police arrested a man and a teenage boy after they allegedly dumped a stolen car in Clarence Park overnight.

Just before 4.30am on Tuesday 11 December, patrols spotted a stolen Volkswagen SUV on Cross Road at Clarence Park with two occupants.

The SUV was seen to turn into East Terrace before the pair abandoned the vehicle in Margaret Street.

The driver was arrested immediately while his passenger ran off. Police dog Ben and his handler were called in with the second suspect being tracked to Oakfield Avenue where he was found hiding in a yard.

A 19-year-old from Glengowrie and a 17-year-old from Murray Bridge have been charged with illegal use. The pair have been refused bail and are expected to appear in court later today.

The Volkswagen SUV was stolen from a West Lakes address sometime between 9 and 10 December.
