Pair arrested after pursuit by PolAir overnight, South Australia

Police have arrested a man and a woman overnight following a pursuit by PolAir in the southern suburbs.

Just before 10.30pm on Saturday 22 December, patrols spotted a stolen red Ford sedan at the intersection of South Road and O’Sullivans Beach Road with two occupants.

The car, which was stolen from a Burton address on 19 December, sped off and was followed from the air by the police helicopter until the car was spiked near Westfield Marion. The driver and passenger then abandoned the car on Brighton Road and ran off.

Police set up cordons and the pair were arrested a short distance away.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Christies Beach was charged with illegal use, engage in police pursuit, drive disqualified, fail to truly answer and breach of bail. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

His passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Goolwa Beach was charged with illegal use and she has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 1 February.
