Pakistan-born man charged with alleged visa breaches in Melbourne

A Pakistan-born man appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (19 March, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The man, 33, was charged today (19 March, 2025) after he was located in Melbourne.

It will be alleged he breached conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 5 March, 2025, and 19 March, 2025, by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations and failing to maintain his electronic monitoring device.

The man has been charged with:

  • One count of failing to remain at a specified address, contrary to section 76C of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth); and

  • One count of failing to wear a monitoring device, contrary to section 76D of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

Each of these offences carry a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
